:: Alboran Apartments - Making Golf Trips Easy
The mere mention the Costa del Sol instantly causes a number of things to spring to mind: The weather..... The coast line..... The many attractions..... and of course the Golf Courses.
We have done the ground work to make your trip stress free by putting together a package that includes first class
accommodation, transport to and from Malaga Airport and 4 rounds of golf, with transport included to each course.
Your trip starts the minute you step off the aircraft at Malaga Airport, where someone will meet you and your party and take
you to the Alboran Apartments in Benalmadena. We have chosen 4 courses for you, but these should be taken as an example of the
available courses only. If you wish to choose alternative courses please use the enquiry page to contact us and we will be
more than willing to assist to the best of our capabilities.
Weekly Program:
Day 1 |
Arrive and settle into apartment, where a welcome
pack awaits you in case you fancy a beer, coffee, etc. |
Day 2 |
Pick up and transport to Rio Real Golf Course
(You choose the time). Intersected by the river, Rio Real is basically flat with many trees to shelter you from the
Andalusian sun. Designed by Spain’s top architect Javier Arana, Rio Real Golf Course opened in 1965. It follows a gradual
incline towards the sea but is otherwise flat. Golf here is a very pleasant experience offering wonderful views, well
established trees and much appreciated shade while the river intersects the course at various points. The dogleg 10th hole
is a pretty par 4 leading to a spectacular 11th tee overlooking a green, access to which lies across a ravine. |
Day 3 |
Day free from golf to relax and enjoy the coast
or whatever tempts you. |
Day 4 |
Pick up and transport to Torrequebrada
Championship Golf Course, a par 72, 18 hole course designed by Jose Gancedo. The course opened in 1976 and is regarded as
one of the top courses in Spain, having hosted many world class championships including the Spanish Open in 1979. Miguel
Angel Jimenez has played golf here for many years and uses Torrequebrada golf course for his training in the build up to
the European Tour each year. The course offers a true test to all golfers with plenty of bunkers, trees and water features.
The course has fabulous views over the Mediterranean Sea and the wind sometimes provides an extra challenge.
|
Day 5 |
Pick up and transport to Mijas Golf Course
(Again, you choose the time). Mijas golf course boasts two terrific designs laid out by Robert Trent Jones. Los Logan, the
original course built in the mid 1970s, is a flat, long championship course with water hazards and large greens. It's
enjoyable for long hitters but also accommodating to those with a slice. Wide fairways with little rough means Mijas has
become the most successful commercial course on the Costa del Sol.
|
Day 6 |
Day free from golf to relax, and of course discuss
whose game has been the best over a few drinks. |
Day 7 |
Pick up and transport to La Cala Golf Course
(And again, you choose the time). The La Cala Golf Resort opened in 1991 and was designed by Cabell B Robinson (a protégé of
Robert Trent Jones). The Cala Sur and La Cala Norte golf courses both are spectacular and are situated in a heavily undulating
area and provide magnificent panoramic views. The mostly large but elevated greens, tricky fairways and many water hazards
make them punishing but fair courses. Accuracy from the tee is essential. |
Day 8 |
Final day. Pick up and transport to Malaga
Airport. |
Most of the Costa del Sol golf course require you to have a handicap certificate, so if you have one don't forget to pack it. If
you are new to the game, or want to improve your game while on your Costa del Sol golfing holiday, clubs offer courses and
individual golf lessons for adults and children.
The cost of the above package, based on 4 people sharing a two bedroom apartment, is €530/£380.
Please note that buggies are not included in the price quoted. If you require one please let us know in advance. A deposit is
required at the time of booking with the balance to be paid 10 weeks prior to your arrival.
The Costa del Sol's best golf courses
The Costa del Sol is famous for
its golf courses, and it's easy to see why. It's not just the courses that golfers are attracted to though:
this area gets an average of 327 sunny days per year, so you rarely have to worry about your game being
spoiled by the weather. The Sunshine Golf team play all of the golf courses listed here regularly so if
you have any questions then please contact us. Each course has at least 18 holes.
Hold the
mouse pointer over the locations on the map of the Costa del Sol to see the name of the course and click
on the one you wish to view. This will automatically open the official website for that course, where one
exists. In cases where no official website exists an information page will be opened.
